1963 - 1982

Founded in 1963 by Erwin Manan, who was assisted by his brother Johannes Chandra as Co-Founder of the company, they started a small-industry named Asahan Perabot to produce home and office furniture with simple tools and machines in Medan North Sumatera.

In 1975 they moved their workshop to Jakarta to fulfill the opportunities of supplying furniture to dealers and doing fit-out renovations for residential and offices around Jakarta.

1983 - 1999

In 1983, Erwin Manan’s son, Robert Manan, joined the business and initiated the transformation from home industry into mass production by utilizing automatic and computerized machineries.

In 1986 with the assistance from his sisters Lena, Maria, Matilda, Yeti and his brother Sonny, Robert Manan built a state of the art manufacturing plant in an industrial estate and set up National sales networks in all major cities in Indonesia under the brand name ‘Grand Furniture’.

In 1989 we started our initial export business to Japan, Middle East, Africa and South America.

In 1996 with skillful management and innovative team, our dedication to quality and design was rewarded by becoming the first office furniture manufacturer in the region who achieved ISO 9001 certification.

2000 - 2011

In 2000 Fify Manan joined the company as International Business Director and later became CEO of the company. Both Robert and Fify expanded our export business to Europe, Central and South America under the new brand name ‘Formcase’ and set-up our subsidiary in the US.

In 2005, Fify managed to obtain the GSA contract to be able to supply to all Federal Agencies in the US and outside the US. Simultaneously, in the same year we obtained Primaniyarta Export Award from the Ministry of Trade, given by the President of Indonesia as the Pioneer in Global Brand Setter and Exporter.

In 2009 we obtained Grand & Gold Award 2009 Indonesian Good Design Selection from the Ministry of Industry, given by the President of Indonesia as the winner of the best Industrial design in Indonesia.
